Terms and conditions

Requirements

Confirmation of Rental Procedure

Rolo Hire processes an AU$100 deposit from the credit card you submit, which confirms your reservation (or lesser amount if rental amount is less than $100). This deposit will be deducted from the balance owing on the rental at time of vehicle collection. Once this AU$100 deposit has been successfully processed, our reservations centre will email you a "Confirmed Booking Form" (within 48 hours) which confirms your reservation and details where to meet our staff at your required pickup location. It is IMPORTANT that you print out this emailed form, and have it with you on the day that you pickup your vehicle as it contains the collection information pertaining to your reservation. A minimum 24 - 48 hour notification period is required when booking online. Within this period phone direct to our central reservations team on +61-(0)7-3252 2377 to ensure vehicle availability. If you do book online within this period, simply call our reservations team at your earliest convenience to ensure your vehicle is available for rental.

Rolo Hire will make every effort to ensure the vehicle is available as booked. However Rolo Hire reserves the right to make alterations to bookings due to unforeseen circumstances.

Payment

Full payment including a bond per vehicle is required on collection of your vehicle at city locations. At airport locations full payment and the bond per vehicle is required to be available on the credit card provided (that you use to secure your booking) at least 48 hours before your rental date.

We accept VISA, Mastercard, JCB and Amex and Diners cards. Amex and Diners cards incur a 3.85% surcharge.

Bond amounts per vehicle are:

  • $250.00 - Car, Commercial Van, Ute and 8 seater
  • $350.00 - 3 Tonne Truck, 12 and 25 seat buses

A credit card imprint is required to be taken when collecting your vehicle, which is to be signed by the hirer and kept on hire for up to a month after completion of hire

In order to Hire

To hire a vehicle through Rolo Hire you must have your credit card and open driver's licence with you at time of vehicle collection. The individual providing the credit card must be listed on the contract as hirer number 1 and must have his/her driver's licence present. Any additional drivers will be listed as hirer number 2 etc. These additional drivers must also have their drivers licence's present.

Age and Driver's Licence

Minimum driver age with Rolo Hire is 21. All Drivers must hold a full and open Australian, International or Overseas Drivers Licence. Drivers under 25 incur a daily surcharge and cannot reduce their liability from the standard liability level. Please contact our central reservations team on +61-(0)7-3252 2377 for further information. 3 Tonne Trucks, 12 and 25 seat buses are unable to be driven by drivers aged 21 - 24 years.

Kilometres (Milage)

Rolo Hires’ standard kilometre allowance is 200km per day (unless otherwise notified on special rate plans / products / promotions etc. This equates to 1400km over a 7 day period. Extra km are charged at 25c per km for cars, vans, 8 seaters and minibuses and 33c per km for trucks and 25 seat buses.

Unlimited kilometer provision: Unlimited kilometres are sometimes provided on Rolo Hire rate plans within a radius of 1000km. If you are traveling further than 1000km from your collection depot you are required to notify Rolo prior to your collection date your travel destination to ensure you are authorized to travel to your proposed destination, and that your vehicle is carefully prepared for your journey.

Damage Liability Responsibility Information

All Rolo Hire vehicles are comprehensively insured.

A standard multi-vehicle damage responsibility applies which is;

  • $2750 Small, Intermediate and large cars, Taragos and Minibuses
  • $3850 Trucks and 25 Seat Buses
Collision Damage Waiver

Reduces the damage liability fee in the event of damage or loss to your vehicle in the event of a multi vehicle accident.

Total Protection Package (TPP)

This is a premium protection package that includes cover for single vehicle damage (excluding reckless overhead and underbody damage), dual vehicle damage and hail damage as well as tyre, headlight and windscreen damage.

This offer is not available to commercial vehicles.

Hirers are advised that all overhead (excluding hail), undercarriage, water damage, abuse, negligence, is at the hirer's risk and is not covered by either the Collision Damage Waiver or Total Protection Packages.

Please note that all liability cover is void if the rental vehicle is driven on unsealed roads.

Administration Charges

The following administration charges will be charged to your rental agreement

  • $175 administration fee will be charged for processing all damage incidents
  • $66 fee will be charged for 24 hour breakdown assistance for non-mechanical defaults (i.e. keys locked in car, headlights left on).
  • $55 administration fee will be charged for all traffic infringements
Additional Driver

The primary driver as well as 1 additional driver who is listed on the Rental Agreement under the Additional Drivers section is protected free of charge. Any additional drivers after the first 2 drivers are charged at the rate of $2 per day for cars, vans and minibuses, and $5 per day for trucks and 25 seat buses.

Child Restraints

Baby seats, booster seats and reversible baby seats (infant capsules) are available for $33 each. Child restraints are to be checked by the renter before rental to approve the setup of the baby seat.

Our 25 Seat buses and commercial vehicles do not have any anchor points for baby seats/infant capsules, and 12/8 seat vehicles have limited anchor points.

Please call our office to discuss your child seat requirements should you need more than 2 baby seats/capsules anchor points in a 12, 8 or 5 seat vehicle.  

Rental Duration

Each car rental day period is 24 hours. 59 minutes is provided free of charge.

Extra hours are calculated at 1/4 the daily rate until the daily rate is reached.

Optional extras and liability coverages are charged the total daily rate after the 24 hour daily rental period is exceeded by 59 minutes. Hirer's may extend the rental period after a rental has commenced subject to availability and with prior telephone approval from the destination branch. Please ensure that you always have your vehicle back by the time listed on your rental agreement. This ensures that no extra charges will be payable and another customer who has booked in your vehicle will be assured that their reserved vehicle will be ready for them upon arrival

Refunds

There are no refunds for early returns of rental vehicles. Any change of plans, including requests to extend, must be notified to our office.

Extensions

Hirer's may extend the rental period after a rental has commenced subject to availability and with prior telephone approval from the destination branch. Payments for extensions are required at the time of approval by credit card. Be aware that if you provide a specific return time Rolo Hire staff will "dove tail" in rentals with your vehicle return date and time (particularly for truck and commercial rentals). Please ensure that you always have your vehicle back by the time listed on your rental agreement. This ensures that no extra charges will be payable and another customer who has booked in your vehicle will be assured that their reserved vehicle will be ready for them upon arrival

Cancellations/No Shows

We reserve the right to charge cancellation fees.

Fuel

You vehicle will be provided to you full of fuel. To incur no fuel charge on return, ensure your vehicle is returned full of fuel. If Rolo is required to refuel your vehicle a per-litre refueling service charge will be incurred. The current re-fueling service charge can be explained to you on request by Rolo Hire staff on collection of your vehicle and will be listed on your rental agreement.

 

Breakdown

All vehicles are covered by 24-hour Roadside Assistance however this assistance does not cover for non-mechanical defects. Driver error issues such as lost keys, keys locked in vehicle and battery flattening due to headlights or interior lights left on will be on-charged to the vehicle renter at a charge of $88.

All Rolo Hire vehicles are supplied with street directories for capital cities and surrounds free of charge.
